Arc-en-ciel Trout Farm

The trout has a loyal following from its decades of operation and dedication to quality products. Its multi medal winning fresh and smoked trout may be purchased at the farm gate or specialty food retailers and events throughout the state. Owners Russell and Meg Sydenham and son Roger run farm tours, Drunken Trout Cafe, and smokehouse. See them each year at the Nundle Country Picnic.

Crawney’s Hills to Grills

Cameron and Danielle Douglass run a family butchery linking customers directly to their grass fed, grain finished, beef, lamb and pork raised on their Nundle farm. Their meat packs are GMO, hormone and antibiotic free and delivered in convenient vacuum sealed pouches, labelled and packed into a cooler box. Crawneys Hills to Grills meat is also stocked at a growing number of retailers throughout the region.

DAG Sheep Station

The DAG Sheep Station, hosted by John and Belinda Krsulja, is a much loved venue for weddings, conferences, theatre, and country music. Located on 70 acres in the ‘Hills of Gold’, just outside the picturesque village of Nundle and an hour’s drive from Tamworth, the venue was originally part of Wombramurra Station and still retains the original historic wool shed, shearers’ quarters, and mess hall. Fossickers’ Tourist Park

Guests are delighted by the quality and care that goes into the presentation of the park, its amenities and cabins. It’s not unusual for an overnight stay to turn into a week. Owners Ben and Laura Pratt bring their extensive hospitality experience to looking after guests and making the park the best it can be. Hills of Gold Motel

What could be more convenient than a motel with seven ensuited rooms at the central intersection of Nundle. Owners Amanda Dennis and Gerard Hayward have refurbished the motel and added thoughtful comforts like bespoke toiletries and plush towels. Within walking distance of Nundle’s attractions, it is ideal for singles, couples and families visiting the area for work or relaxation. Jenkins Street Antiques and Fine China

If you’re looking for a particular antique, there’s a good chance that Mark Delahunt has it in his extensive collection of furniture, fine china, jewellery, glassware, books and oil lamps. Mark and his family have been buying and selling antiques for decades and his knowledge and interest is impressive.

Machina Coffee and Donuts

The scent and taste of freshly made cinnamon donuts and coffee draws visitors from across the region to Steve Whale’s Machina Coffee and Donuts. Set up in a shipping container at the main intersection in Nundle, customers park with ease, order their morning treat and enjoy it at outdoor tables in the sunny garden. The historic brick house that shares the block has been renovated as Riders’ Rest accommodation.

Mount Misery Gold Mine Cafe and Museum

The cafe and museum is a must-visit to learn about the gold mining heritage of Nundle and Hanging Rock. It’s also a central location for hiring gold panning equipment. The stone building is full of character, built in the 1870s, and business owner Lyn Melrose is generous and welcoming. The outdoor seating has a spectacular vista across the village and surrounding countryside. You can even stay at the guesthouse above the cafe.

Nundle District Craft Shop

Visitors make a bee-line for for the collection of home made and home grown goods. Sourdough bread, cakes, biscuits, jams and pickles are a weekend favourite, as well as plants, timber work and handknits.

Nundle Court House Museum

Open weekends, the volunteer-run museum has a large collection of domestic, commercial and farm artefacts providing insight into the heritage of Nundle and surrounds. Of particular interest is information about the 1948 Lutana DC-3 aircraft crash. Built in 1880 by local builder George Davidson, it is listed by the Australian Heritage Commission as a fine example of 19th Century colonial architecture.

Nundle Friendly Grocer

Open seven days, the Nundle Friendly Grocer team has a wide selection of groceries for residents and visitors, including Arc-en-ciel Trout Farm and Crawney’s Hills to Grills products. Drop in for grocery items, cool drinks, essentials like milk and bread, and of course ice creams.

Nundle Fuel and Cafe

The cafe is a hive of activity seven days a week with visitors and locals filling up their tanks at the bowser or their tummies at the counter. Sit under the grapevine draped verandah, or within view of Nundle’s wool themed playground. Nundle Pie Company

You may know Laura, Brad and Ben from Nundle Pie Company by attending one of the region’s food markets. Their pop-up stalls usually have a line up of customers eager for their brisket pies made in Nundle, and sell out fast. Nundle Woollen Mill

The mill offers one of the few experiences in Australia where visitors can see the process of spinning wool into yarn. Yarn made on site and knitting and crochet accessories delight crafters, while owners Nick and Kylie Bradford also showcase an extensive collection of woollen clothing and homewares. Twice daily tours are a must see at this nationally recognised tourism destination.

Odgers and McClelland Exchange Stores

Duncan and Megan Trousdale fill their 1891 general store with quality must-haves for the kitchen and garden. Keen gardeners and cooks on their small farm, Megan and Duncan know quality tools to help with growing, preserving and sharing food. Entering the 133-year-old building is a step-back-in-time experience, the traditional goods made from natural materials evoking the past, but just as relevant for today.

Oakenville Farm Store

Apothecary, pamper and food goods at Oakenville Farm Store are nearly always made or grown by owners herbalist Rachel Webster and singer songwriter Jeff Gibson on their small farm. Rachel makes and prescribes natural remedies for health ailments, and offers therapeutic services including infrared sauna, foot detox and pilates instruction. The store mirrors their off-grid, permaculture life and shares skills through regular workshops.

Old Church Boutique

Volunteers sell pre-loved clothes and household items and have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars over more than 20 years for local charities and families in need. 2018 Australia Day Nundle Community Organisation of the Year.

Peel Inn Hotel

The Peel Inn has more than 150-years’ tradition of welcoming guests, and recently earned the accolade of having one of Australia’s best beer gardens. Fourth generation publican Robert Schofield runs the pub with wife Margaret and son Drew. There is a playground for children, refurbished dining room and bars, and accommodation. The two-bedroom cottage, three-bedroom villa, caravan sites and private garden on the bank of the Peel River within walking distance of Nundle are an oasis of relaxation. Peggy Van Zalm creates and sells one off hand crafted crochet fashion designs from a pop-up store in the the chamber of the Bank of NSW building. You’ll find pure wool beanies, berets, wraps, vests and more. Peggy also offers custom designs and fashion styling consultations, drawing on experience working in a busy dress shop. You’ll enjoy listening to Peggy and partner Mark Jago’s latest album Little Incursions.

Gil Bennet Rocks and Minerals Collection

The Gil Bennet Rocks and Minerals Collection is the work of Tamworth local, the late Gilmore (Gil) Thomas Bennett who spent years collecting the unique and wondrous selection of fine stone and rock. The rocks, gems and minerals on display represent the finest specimens of his extensive collection assembled over more than 20 years.
