The Potting Shed , an antique and garden shop, has a cute cafe that should be on your ‘where to eat in Tenterfield’ list. The charming country cafe has a warm and friendly atmosphere, and the menu packs a punch with top-notch rustic cooking that follows a new theme every quarter. If available, must-tries are the brekky milk bun (perfect bacon, over easy egg, smokey cheese, yes please), the hipster (a classic ham and cheese toasty with triple smoked ham off the bone), and the comfort pie, smoked beef (you had us at comfort). Don’t skip dessert here; this is a place where there’s always room for more. There’s a divine courtyard, a gift shop filled with treasures, and they’re one of the most dog-friendly spots in town, offering a special menu for pooches. The coffee is terrific, but they also make a mean dirty chai latte. While you’re waiting for your food to come out, browse through their mix of vintage items, homewares, clothing, gifts, and potted plants. Check out their schedule for live music if you are keen on a small-town evening out.
