In the heart of Tamworth is Ruby’s Cafe. They sell cafe fare, fresh flowers, custom cakes and a selection of products which are largely made in regional New South Wales. Where possible, produce from the cafe garden is incorporated and the menu specials can vary depending on which cakes, pastries and baked goods have been made on the day. The coffee at Ruby’s Cafe is made using beans from Genovese. The roastery was started in Sydney during the 1970s by Alfio Genovese, an Italian immigrant who wanted to roast beans that resembled the Italian espresso flavour he’d grown up with. Today Alfio’s grandchildren steer the company and continue to produce artisan espresso.
